Timeline

For our unit 5 assignment we were asked to produce a timeline showing what we thought were the major art movement in the 19th and 20th century. We were put into groups of 3 to do the timelines. In our group we delegated certain movements for each of us to research. When researching I found symbolism the most interesting to read and write about but the type of art that catches my eye the most is surrealism. Symbolism is the gothic component of romanticism. With lots of artists who do their work in the symbolist style use animals for people or other objects to symbolise the point they are trying to put across. I love surrealism art as I find the pictures to be more interesting and they draw your attention into them and keep your attention. I found that doing a timeline helped me put everything into context it also helped with my researching skills and I found out a lot of interesting influences some of the movements have had on everyday life.
